Our Team

David A. Major, MD

I have my roots in Atlantic City where my grandfather was a Pharmacist and my father was a general practitioner. I came to Philadelphia for Medical School , Internship and Residency. After two years in the Military I returned to Philadelphia for an Academic career at Hahnemann University.

I won the Lindback Teaching Award, led the Student Programs in Internal Medicine, developed the first Federally funded Physician Assistant Program in the country and directed the Division of General Internal Medicine. I also served on and chaired multiple committees at the National Board of medical Examiners.

In 1990 I became one of the founders of NSIM, devoting myself to continuing the challenging career of practicing General Internal Medicine in a private practice group setting. The biggest challenge is continuous study to remain at the cutting edge of the Art and Science of Medicine. The second challenge is the evolution of a group practice as the health system changes and the team approach of the "Medical Home" is becoming the new practice model. The last challenge is recruitment and mentoring of outstanding young physicians who are such a vital component of NSIM.

Most important to me are the long term relationships with my patients and the stimulation of meeting new patients and starting new relationships

Outside of medicine I enjoy my family of females: my wife Evelyn, my 3 daughters Jill, Jane and Lynn and their families, including our 5 granddaughters I also love reading history and as many sports as I can squeeze into my free time.
