Jane S. Levy, PA
I was born and raised in Center City Philadelphia, right around the corner from Ninth Street Internal Medicine. Growing up with a physician-scientist father and medical social worker mother, I have been surrounded by medicine and science since I can remember. However, it wasn’t until the beginning of my sophomore year at Tulane University in New Orleans that I considered medicine as a career for myself. Hurricane Katrina hit NOLA in 2005 and the human toll was unimaginable. I spent countless hours as a volunteer not only helping to rebuild the city but also people's' lives. My business career and potential Wall Street aspirations dramatically shifted to a career where I could impact people’s lives on a daily basis. After graduating with honors from Tulane with my business degree, I completed a two-year post-baccalaureate degree in pre-medicine at Columbia University, followed by two years working in clinical research in type 2 diabetes in New York City. I returned to my roots in Philadelphia and earned my Physician Assistant (PA) degree from Drexel University.
I truly love my career. In medicine, we are constantly learning and challenged to grasp new breakthroughs and cutting-edge therapies. Building relationships with patients is what draws me to primary care and what I value most. Prior to starting at NSIM, I worked for three years at a community health center in North Philadelphia, where I gained valuable experience treating a markedly diverse population in a primary care setting.
Outside of work you can find me running along the Schuylkill River Trail, trying out different fitness classes, hanging at the dog park with my fur-baby, or enjoying Philly's amazing restaurants with my husband.
